Josie Dring is a multi-hyphenate performer from Westchester County, NY. Growing up in close proximity to New York City, she had the privilege of consuming theatre from a very young age. As soon as she could walk, she was trying to twirl on her tippy-toes, and she soon as she could talk, she was singing. Josie has had the honor of portraying a wide variety of characters, including Miss Honey from Matilda, Davey from Newsies, and most recently: an angsty teen named Beth.
On the right you will see Josie performing in the 2025 Annual Fundraising Gala for The Broadway Training Center, where she spent her childhood growing as an artist.
When not performing, you may find her playing Piano Man by Billy Joel (with the harmonica), doing a handstand, or tap dancing.
As part of the SheNYC Summer Theatre Festival,
I played the role of Beth in the new musical Wilderness! written by Rona Moriah and
Olivia Berkson. The production ran from
July 24-26 at
The Classic Stage in the East Village, NYC.
This summer I worked as an associate of the
non-profit organization, Invest In Access. For two months I shadowed the American Sign Language interpreters at events such as the Tony Awards, the Jimmy Awards, and other events with The Broadway League. This internship reflects my desire to advocate for disability rights, and is a step towards getting my certification as an ASL Interpreter one day!
I am currently pursuing a BFA in Acting
(Spring ’26), with a minor in Hearing and Deafness at Emerson College in Boston, where I am on the Dean's List. I am the Music Director of the Emerson Acappellics, a Performing Arts Ambassador for the college, and a member of the Tap and Hip-Hop Companies in EUDT: Emerson Urban Dance Theatre.
This will be my second time performing as a soloist with Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids Cabaret! This performance is co-produced by Emerson College's Musical Theatre Society and Musical Theatre Against The Grain. Tickets will be available soon.
My NYC cabaret debut at Green Room 42! I will be singing Blackbird by the Beatles as well as a few other songs, with my brother Oscar Dring accompanying me on the guitar.
I will be performing in the ensemble of Spring Awakening at Emerson College, produced by the club Musical Theatre Against The Grain. Student director, Gabi David envisions Shadow Dancers performing alongside the principle roles, and I am elated to be cast as the Isle Shadow Dancer. Tickets will be available soon.
